GUNTERSVILLE, AL - The Tennessee Tech team of Matthew Clay of Madisonville, Tenn., and Joe Slagle of Bristol, Tenn., won the National Guard FLW College Fishing Southeastern Conference event on Lake Guntersville Saturday with five bass weighing 26 pounds, 15 ounces. The victory earned the team $5,000. The win also helped them advance to the Southeastern Conference Championship.
RED WING, MN - Pro Brian Bjorkman of Fargo, N.D. tried to make the final day of the National Guard FLW Walleye Tour on the Mississippi River presented by Evinrude exciting by bringing in a 28 pound 11 ounce sack, the heaviest sack of the day, with his co-angler Keith Keivens of Toledo Ohio. It would fall short and Pro Tommy Skarlis of Waukon, Iowa, and co-anger Tim Lessila of Milwaukee, Wis., who caught four walleyes weighing 14 pounds, 15 ounces was enough for Skarlis to get his first title on the Mississippi River. Skarlis' three day total of 14 walleyes weighing 72 pound, 8 ounces was nearly 9 pounds greater than Bjorkman's in an event featuring anglers from 15 states and Canada. Skarlis win earned him $63,000.
SUMMERTON, SC - The Georgia Southern University team of Justin Hewlett of North August, S.C., and Geoffrey Hill of Kennesaw, Ga. won the National Guard FLW College Fishing Southeastern Conference event on Santee Cooper Saturday with four bass weighing 10 pounds, 4 ounces. They endured the longest fog delay in FLW history - nearly five hours, to claim the win. The victory earned the team $5,000, and advanced them to the Southeastern Conference Championship.
BRANSON, MO- The Southern Illinois University team of Ryan Dunn, Harrisburg, and Brandon Ringer, of Carbondale, Illinois, won the National Guard FLW College Fishing Central Conference event on Table Rock Lake Sunday with five bass weighing 17 pounds, 3 ounces. The victory earned the team $5,000. The win also helped them advance to the Central Conference Regional Championship.
LAKE HAVASU CITY, AZ- The Utah Valley University team of Russell Behlings of Custer, South Dakota and Aaron Warner of Orem, Utah won the National Guard FLW College Fishing Western Conference event on Lake Havasu Saturday with five bass weighing 13 pounds, 11 ounces. The victory earned the team $5,000. The win also helped them advance to the Western Conference Regional Championship.
