ODFW to host family fishing event at Mt. Hood Pond

CLACKAMAS, Ore. — Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is hosting a Family Fishing event Saturday, May 19 at Mt. Hood Pond in Gresham.
This event is part of the ODFW Outdoors program and is designed to introduce young people and their families to the sport of trout fishing. The department will loan out rods, reels, and tackle to individuals who are learning to fish or do not have their own gear. Participants are welcome to bring their own equipment if they prefer. The department will also provide bait.

LEWISBURG, W. Va. – The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (DNR) and Plum Creek today announced they are expanding a public-private partnership effort to increase the state’s trout population and extend its range. With the expansion, the effort will now focus on enhancing the quality of 51.6 miles of streams on Plum Creek land and many more miles down-stream. The private timber company and state originally began the effort in 1999, and it since has grown and seen significant results.

Doug Schallmoser Wins IFA Kayak Tour Event At Ruskin, Fla.

LIZELLA, Ga. - Doug Schallmoser, of Cape Coral, Fla., caught a redfish and speckled sea trout that measured a combined 52.50 inches in length to win the IFA Kayak Fishing Tour presented by Hobie Fishing event at Ruskin, Fla., on May 6. The event, which operated out of Little Harbor, was the last regular-season event for the IFA Kayak Fishing Tour's Florida West Coast Division.

This past weekend's Louisiana Saltwater Series speckled trout tournament held true to form, and although there were several prized catches, the highlight of the event was inarguably the extraordinary number of fish tagged and released. A total of 45 trout and one flounder were caught, tagged and released by the 18 participating teams.
